The most dangerous piece of advice in the content world:
“Just keep grinding.”
I was told that if I just showed up every day, if I just “put in the reps,” the algorithm would eventually bless me.
I treated content creation like a lottery — the more tickets I bought, the higher my chances of winning.
So, I wrote 1,000 pieces of content… Over 10 years… And had almost nothing to show for it.
This is why I nearly gave up writing, hundreds of times.
This is the reality of the “Spray and Pray” method. It is the single fastest way to burn out while convincing yourself you’re being productive.
If you go to a driving range and practice a terrible golf swing 1,000 times, you don’t become Tiger Woods. You become an expert at hitting the ball into the woods.
Practice does not make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.
By writing 1,000 posts without a feedback loop, I hadn’t become a great writer. I had simply become an expert at writing content that nobody wanted to read.
The “Production Loop” Trap
Most writers are stuck in a Production Loop. It looks like this:
- Have an idea.
- Write the content.
- Publish.
- Repeat.
It feels like work. Because it is work. But it’s work without direction. You’re running 100 miles per hour on a treadmill. You’re sweating, you’re tired, but you haven’t actually gone anywhere.
So… am I just wasting my time?
If you are just focusing on volume… Yes.
The creators you admire — the ones actively building 6-figure businesses and loyal audiences — aren’t just writing more than you. They are writing differently than you to train the algorithm.
You Need a Feedback Loop
To stop the cycle of invisible content, you have to shift from a Production Loop to a Feedback Loop.
The “Algorithm” isn’t a god you need to pray to. It isn’t a lottery machine you need to hack.
The Algorithm is a student. And you are the teacher.
Every time you post, you are teaching the algorithm who your content is for. When you post random thoughts, vague advice, or “spray and pray” topics, you are confusing the student. You’re trying to teach calculus, cooking, and history all in the same lecture.
No wonder nobody is listening.
The difference between my first 1,000 posts and my First 500 Followers wasn’t effort. I actually spent less time on content.
But I started listening to the data.
- I stopped writing whatever idea I had.
- I started writing to train the algorithm.
- I stopped guessing what the audience wanted.
- I started reverse-engineering the content people wanted.
Stop Guessing. Start Validating.
You don’t need to write another 100 blog posts to see if “maybe one sticks.” You don’t need to grind until your fingers bleed.
You need a system that validates your ideas before you pour your soul into them. You need to know that when you hit publish, you aren’t just hoping — you’re executing.
Volume is not the answer. Don’t become an expert at practicing the wrong swing.
Ready to fix your swing?
I put together a specific framework called the Viral Validated Method. It’s the exact system I used to stop “spraying and praying” and start building an asset that’s the foundation of a business.
It breaks down how to find the ideas that work, how to package them so they get read, and how to turn readers into a loyal audience.
